Abstract

The stability and performance of raft foundations play a critical role in ensuring the safety and durability of structures constructed on varied soil conditions. Conventional design methods often rely on deterministic approaches, which may not adequately account for uncertainties in soil properties, loading conditions, and construction practices. This study applies the Chi-square statistical method to evaluate the confidence and reliability levels of raft foundations. Experimental and analytical data on settlement, bearing capacity, and load distribution are compared against theoretical predictions using the Chi-square test to identify deviations and establish reliability indices. The results demonstrate that Chi-square testing provides a robust statistical framework for assessing the degree of confidence in raft foundation performance. This approach enhances the accuracy of design validation, aids in risk minimization, and supports more reliable decisionmaking in foundation engineering.
