The rapid adoption of electronic banking has transformed the delivery of financial services by providing customers with faster, more convenient, and increasingly digital modes of banking. However, the growing dependence on internet banking, mobile banking, digital payments, and online financial transactions has also increased the exposure of banking institutions to operational, technological, cybersecurity, fraud, privacy, and transaction-related risks. This study examines the risk profile of e-banking operations at Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., with particular emphasis on identifying major digital banking risks, assessing their potential impact, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing risk-management mechanisms. The study considers key risk dimensions including cybersecurity threats, phishing and online fraud, unauthorized transactions, data privacy breaches, system failures, technological disruptions, operational errors, and customer-related vulnerabilities. It further evaluates the role of security controls, authentication mechanisms, transaction monitoring, customer awareness, and regulatory compliance in reducing e-banking risks. The study adopts a structured analytical approach to understand the relationship between the increasing use of digital banking services and associated risk exposure. The findings are expected to provide insights into the major challenges faced by banks in maintaining secure and reliable electronic banking operations and to identify areas for strengthening digital risk governance. The study highlights the importance of continuous cybersecurity investment, robust authentication, real-time fraud detection, employee training, customer awareness, and proactive risk assessment for ensuring secure, resilient, and trustworthy e-banking services. The research provides useful implications for banking managers, policymakers, regulators, and researchers concerned with the sustainable development of digital banking in India.
