Abstract

The Smart Traffic Signal Control System is an intelligent traffic management solution designed to optimize vehicle movement at intersections using real-time data analysis and machine learning techniques. Traditional traffic systems operate on fixed time intervals, leading to inefficient traffic flow, increased congestion, and unnecessary waiting times . This project introduces a dynamic approach where traffic signals are adjusted based on real-time vehicle density captured through cameras and sensors . Using image processing techniques such as OpenCV, the system detects vehicles and calculates traffic density on each road . Machine learning models analyze these patterns and predict optimal signal timings to improve efficiency . The system prioritizes high-density roads by allocating longer green signals, thereby reducing congestion and improving road utilization . Additionally, the system incorporates emergency vehicle detection, allowing immediate signal clearance for faster response times . Data visualization tools provide real-time monitoring and performance insights . The implementation of this system reduces fuel consumption, minimizes environmental pollution, and enhances road safety . It also contributes to smart city development by integrating automation and intelligent decisionmaking . Overall, the system provides a scalable and efficient solution for modern traffic management challenges
